Rules of HL2 RP
1. All standard roleplay rules apply, these prohibit behaviours such as:
• Metagaming. (OOC information taken into IC situations)
• Powergaming. (Forcing actions upon others)
• Invalid character descriptions. (Creating unserious or invalid descriptions)
2. You may not attack or kill other players randomly. Your documentation must be solid if an administrator questions your actions. Killing or attacking for personal greed is not a valid reason in the sense of simply doing it to gain someone’s items or tokens. Personal in-character reasons such as revenge are valid.
3. If your character happens to be killed and not permanently killed (PKed), ‘New Life Rule’ applies; you forget everything during the event in which you were killed. Additionally you are not allowed to return to the area in which you died for at least 10 minutes.
4. If your character is,
• Amputated
• Killed when attacking someone
• Committing suicide
• Dying while being chased or hunted
• Not fear roleplaying to the highest level and then being killed,
Your character will be permanently killed (PKed.) Civil Protection characters get demoted one rank if they meet the criteria of a PK under this rule.
5. Any type of spam is not accepted. This includes, but is not limited to: chat spam, prop spam, voice command spam etc.
6. Impersonation of any community member, player or staff is strictly forbidden.
7. You may not use cheats or third party modifications for your game to obtain additional powers/features.
8. Use your common sense and respect your fellow players. Being offensive, trolling or flaming by intention in OOC for own entertainment is not allowed.
9. Disrespecting the server staff is not allowed. On the server, final words by staff are the final decisions. If you have a complaint or concern, bring it to the appropriate forum board.
10. Do not abuse your physgun, toolgun or prop spawning abilities in any way, or you will lose your ability to use them.
• You may not prop-spam, prop-push, prop-fly, prop-block or build anything that other people find disturbing. Spawning props during a combat situation is not allowed.
• Do not build on rooftops that are not accessible via map props - this is to prevent propclimbing.
• You may not build anything close to where players spawn, public areas or faction property. If it is for detail or design that you deem no harm against the public society, ask an administrator.
11. Any attempt or successful act of killing other players with props is forbidden and will result in a lengthy ban from the server. In addition, do not try to exploit nor bypass the prop protection provided within the gamemode.
12. Avoidance of roleplay is not allowed. This includes but is not limited to; stalling roleplay, switching characters and disconnecting from the server. Roleplay is always in effect and you are bound to your character. AFKing is not an excuse to avoid any roleplay situation. You can still be searched/detained/affected by players.
13. Your character’s physical description describes your physical appearance; looks, build, height etc. An inappropriate description must be changed.
14. The roleplay is set in the Half-life 2 universe, and your character must act accordingly as a character in said universe. Give your character a proper name natural in the universe. Names of characters in the Half-life 2 storyline require authorization from a Senior Administrator. Famous names from real life are not allowed.
15. Your character is not godly or overpowered and must have a selection of weaknesses and strengths. In addition, your character must display signs of fear like reality depending on situation as well as mental and physical conditions. Only once your character has lost will of living, fear can be exempt.
16. You must roleplay injuries. When you are shot in your leg, your character will not be able to run fast, limp or fallover etc. This applies in firefights, too (Rule 20.)
17. ‘Minge grabbing’ is taking items without roleplay. This is a serious bannable offence if any players nearby could prevent your actions. This also applies when searching and removing items from a character.
18. Do not engage in intensive roleplay if you do not have enough time to roleplay its consequences. If you have to disconnect from the server within a short period of time, you should for example not attack someone.
19. If you rob someone and the person being robbed does not resist anything and act politely, you may not kill the person you have robbed after he/she has paid the price.
20.
• You need to type a well-developed /me before attacking someone.
• Firefights or melee fights cannot be initiated by a bind of any form.
• If your weapon is in your inventory, you need to type /me several times and respect your target's reactions.
• Shooting cannot commence until both sides of the firefight have finished typing any /me that is being written.
• You do not need to /me any further once the firefight has started, and keep in mind that radioing in or yelling are not a /me and do not grant any immunity before a firefight.
• In firefights it is always shoot to kill unless specified by a Senior Administrator or above.
• You must always FearRP and PainRP. That means you cannot go "Rambo" and charge or run around if you have been shot in your legs. (OTA are somewhat excused from this part)
• You cannot heal yourself mid-combat, regardless of faction. Any heals must be after the fighting is over and must be rp'd, even the most basic form of rp is accepted here. (eg: "/me injects the health vial into his/her arm)
21. You may not mug or rob another player for personal greed. You may only do so if you’re in a personal conflict with your victim (revenge, betrayal, etc.) You need to be able to justify the mugging if confronted by a staff member. If you rob someone and the person being robbed does not resist anything and act politely, you may not kill the person after he/she has paid the price. In the outlands there is an exception to this rule. You may rob people for their items if they are visible. You may never rob someone merely for their tokens!
22. To preserve realism, you may not mug or attack any units when there are less than three units online. Dispatch and scanners do not count as units. In the outlands you cannot rob players alone, you need to keep a 2-1 ratio going when you’re robbing players.
23. You may only scam another player ICly. This means that scamming needs to be a result of roleplay, and that you are not allowed try and trick someone OOCly (Telling them to trade or buy from you, then keep the items after they pay, without any roleplay).
24. The roll command is purely for gambling and other similar in-character situations. At some occasions it can be allowed for combat, given that both parties have agreed.
25. You are unable to dodge bullets or other objects projected with high velocity or speed. This is not 'The Matrix.'
26. Parkour is permitted to some extent, while free running is forbidden.
27. Do always attempt to spell and use grammar properly at all times. It is your own responsibility, you cannot leave mistakes to be corrected by other players. Any major issues in your sentence must be corrected with a LOOC message.
28. Abuse of whitelists in any way is strictly disallowed and will permanently leave you out of the whitelist (and possibly others) in the future.
29. Civil Protection units are forbidden to give out the Civil Protection radio frequency.
30. Counter-breaking rules or acting vigilante on the server is not allowed. Rule breaking is never acceptable. If you need to deal with someone, post a ban request in the correct section on the forums.
31. Creating, harboring or manufacturing paranormal activity is not allowed.
32. Contact between your own characters in any shape or form is forbidden. Additionally, you may not transfer items or tokens between your own group member characters.
33. You may be somewhat of a racist in-character, but if someone tells you to stop out of character, your character must instantly stop.
34. Anyone requesting fade to black during a sexual roleplay situation must have their wish granted. If fade to black is not requested, any sexual roleplay must be performed in a most discreet manner in /mec, and the parties must attempt to ensure that other players are not disturbed by the roleplay.
35. Secret bases are obtained through applications. You may only be given knowledge from the owner of the base or the designated officers of the base, they will normally be listed on the wall of the base. If you want to expose a base you must have a very good reason (revenge, betrayal etc.) and know or have information that there is probably a base ICly! If you see someone entering a base you need to have a screenshot of it happening as seen from the eyes of your character. (to avoid lying and metagaming) Note: Seeing someone entering means you know of the base, not how to enter it! (read beginning of this rule) If your base is discovered and raided by Civil Protection or OTA legitimately by following these rules your base will be voided and given to someone else. Base raids by OTA and Civil Protection cannot commence until both of the Server Director's have approved the raid.
36. Characters under the age of 20 require authorization from a Server Director.
37.. Voiding a situation requires the approval of a Server Director or approval of all parties included. When it comes to voiding situations where you are the only party, you must require the approval of a Server Director.
38. You may never heavily alter your physical description unless a correctly roleplayed scenario which was approved by a Senior Admin could allow
39. Breaching containers without roleplay, stealing from containers without authorization from Server Director or owner is not allowed. This rule is exempt for Civil Protection, provided they have a good reason to raid the area - they must acquire permission from Server Director to do so as well.
1. All standard roleplay rules apply, these prohibit behaviours such as:

• Powergaming. (Forcing actions upon others)
